Ferne M. Hadley, 87, died April 16, 2007, at Deseret Health Care, Hutchinson.
She was born Aug. 18, 1919, in South Hutchinson, the daughter of Joseph Albert and Hattie A. Ireton Cox. In 1937, she graduated from Hutchinson High School and in 1939, she graduated from Hutchinson Community College. A lifetime resident of the Hutchinson area, she was a teacher at South Hutchinson Elementary School, serving 38 years and retiring in 1978.
She belonged to First Christian Church, Hutchinson.
On April 27, 1941, she married Gilbert L. "Gibby" Hadley in Lyons. He died July 19, 1992.
Survivors include: two sons, Michael, Leonardville, and Jerry and wife, Norma, Hutchinson; a sister-in-law, Bonita Goss, Wichita; three grandchildren, Todd, Jason and Heather Hadley; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Sutter.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with the Rev. John Warring presiding. Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorials may be sent to Odyssey Health Care, in care of the mortuary.
