OSAGE BEACH, Mo. – Flora Mae "Shorty" Dawson, 86, died Dec. 29, 2014, at Lakeside Meadows Retirement Center. She was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Spearville, to Melvin and Nora (Trainer) Luther.
She was a member of First Congregational Church. Flora was a hairdresser.
On Dec. 25, 1949, she married David W. "Dave" Dawson Sr. in Hutchinson. He died Oct. 20, 2000. She is survived by: son, David W. Dawson Jr. and wife Kathy of Lake Ozarks, Mo.; grandsons, Heath Dawson and wife Elizabeth of Springfield, Mo., Nicholas Dawson and wife Amber of Southington, Conn.; great-grandchildren, Maximus Dawson, Alexandria Dawson, and Tyler Dawson. Flora was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Melvina Sears.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
