Florine M. Rice, passed away on May 21, 2012. She was born Aug. 11, 1921, to Floran Elmer and Elsie Case McAllister at the 101 Ranch in Kay County, Okla.

She graduated from Marland High School in 1938, and attended Hutchinson Junior College and Philips University in Enid, Okla.

She was married to Paul Hayes (1942), Everett Hoskinson (1965), and Ray E. Rice (1993), all deceased. Her family was a large part of her life, and she loved and cherished each one of them.

Those survivors include: five children, Willa Abernathy, Spokane, Wash., Paulette Hedden (Ken), Parkville, Mo., John Hayes (Sandy), Hutchinson, Colleen Buggeln (Bob), Hutchinson, and Norma Womack (Bob), Goddard; a sister, Earlene Condit, Ponca City, Okla.; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, and retired in 1988 as Municipal Clerk for the City of South Hutchinson. Prior to that, was office manager at Hefing Engineering. She was a charter member of Sweet Adelines, performing with the chorus and several barbershop quartets, both locally and in national competition. She was a member of Countryside Baptist Church, the South Central Kansas Tourism Group, and an Emeritus member of Altrusa of Hutchinson.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Cliff Kirk presiding. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
