Floyd E. Smith, 89, died Nov. 17, 2011, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born April 25, 1922, in Chase, Kan., the son of Jake E. and Martha A. Simpson Smith. Floyd was a WWII veteran serving as a PFC with the Army, receiving a Silver Star.
On Feb. 5, 1944, he married Viola Williamson in Wiggins, Miss. She died Oct. 16, 2006. Survivors include: five children, Faye J. Johnson of Arizona, Frank E. Smith of Mississippi, Ron L. Smith of Kansas, Roger A. Smith of Kansas, and Patricia A. Underwood of Florida; brother, Eugene R. Smith of Kansas; sister, Doris Fulkerson of Utah; six grandchildren; and numerous great and great great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Leavenworth National Cemetery with military honors conducted by Fort Leavenworth Honor Guard.
