September 12, 1925 – February 11, 2022
Frances L. Ashby, 96, of Hutchinson, died February, 11, 2022, at Hospice House. She was born September 12, 1925, in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of August and Alice (Edwards) Goerke.
Frances graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1945 and attended Kansas City Community College and the University of Kansas, where she majored in Business Administration. In addition to being a homemaker, Frances worked as an Administrative Assistant at American Royal for 25 years, and Morton Interiors. She enjoyed playing Bridge and volunteering at various community organizations.
Frances was a member of First Congregational Church of Hutchinson, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and past member of PEO.
On May 14, 1948, she married Cliff Ashby, in Kansas City. He died March 16, 1997.
Frances is survived by: niece, Beverly DeDecker and husband Pete; nephew, Michael Lux; three great-nieces; one great-nephew; and four great-great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Lucille Cordon; niece, Pamela Lux; and nephew, Michael Cordon.
Private family burial will be held in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, at First Congregation Church, 3410 N. Plum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the church's website: https://firstcongregationalhutch.org
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary.
