Obituary

Frances H. Bishop, 98, died Sept. 12, 2006, at Dillon Living Center.

She was born Jan. 1, 1908, in rural Hardtner, the daughter of Zora William and Luella Mae Hull Allen. She graduated from Hardtner High School and received her teaching certificate from Northwestern State Teachers College, Alva, Okla. A Hutchinson resident since 1943, moving from Wichita, she had taught at a country school before working for Kansas State Bank, Wichita, retiring in 1972 from the former Hutchinson National Bank as head of the central proof department.

She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church.

On June 24, 1928, she married Alfred Bishop in Hardtner. He died Dec. 11, 1998.

Survivors include: a son, Alfred A. Bishop, Houston; a daughter, Beverly K. Graves, Hutchinson; a brother, Ronald Allen, Daphne, Ala.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert, Robert and Donald Allen; and a sister, Mildred Johnson.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hester Chapel, Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Amy Lippoldt presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
