Caldwell
August 18, 1927 – December 21, 2017
Frances Adeline Caldwell, of Hutchinson, 90, died December 20, 2017, at Brookdale Senior Living of Hutchinson. She was born August 18, 1927, in Teterville, KS, the daughter of Fred Wesley and Mina Adeline (Cleveland) Sullivan.
Frances graduated from Haven High School and Hutchinson Community College. She worked for many years as the bookkeeper for Caldwell Greenhouse (the family business), and later at Amy's Hallmark store in the Hutchinson Mall. Frances was active in the Hutchinson Duplicate Bridge Club and was a Life Master in Duplicate Bridge. She was a founding member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Hutchinson. Frances was renowned for her big smile, her ability to make friends wherever she went, and her homemade chocolate chip cookies.
On June 1, 1948, Frances married Donald Earl Caldwell, in Wichita. He died July 16, 2017. They shared 69 years of marriage.
She is survived by: sons, Brian Caldwell and wife Lin Fredericksen of Topeka, Roger Caldwell and wife Michelle of Calhan, CO; daughters, Carol Caldwell-Ewart of Sebastopol, CA, Margaret Wieland and husband Richard of Wichita; grandchildren, Matthew Caldwell and wife Sara, Jennifer Ewart, Jessica Caldwell, Erin Ewart , Brett Ewart and wife Jana Emery; great-grandson, Kellen Ewart; sister, Nadine Russell of Wichita; brothers, David Sullivan of Wichita and Mac Sullivan and wife Carol of Haysville. Frances was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Don; and brother, Perry Sullivan.
The family would particularly like to thank the staff at Brookdale and Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County for their loving care at the end of Frances' life.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County or Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
