Obituary

PLEVNA - Frances Helen Hester, 85, died Nov. 2, 2008, at Hester Care Center, Wesley Towers.

She was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Nickerson, the daughter of Lloyd Glenn and Minnie Pleasant Gantz Hill. She was a graduate of Plevna High School in 1940, and Emporia State Teachers College in 1942. She was a lifetime Reno County resident, living in the Nickerson, Plevna and the Hutchinson communities. She was a homemaker and a farmwife.

She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church. She had been a Sunday School teacher and treasurer for the Huntsville Church for 20 years, and had been a classroom teacher for six years.

On March 3, 1948, she married Scott B. Hester in Plevna. He died March 6, 1999.

Survivors include: their children and spouses, Cynthia and Frank Gassmann, Garden Plain, Karen and Byron Davidson, Wichita, Michael and Mary Hester, Plevna, and Keith and Raimy Hester, Hutchinson; a brother, Grant Hill, Hutchinson; three sisters, Mildred Service, Overland Park, Muriel Thode, South Hutchinson, and Velma Fox, Wichita; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Hill.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday Nov. 7, 2008, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Pat Ault Duell presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Private family graveside service will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
