Frances "Faye" Strait, 98, formerly of Hutchinson, died December 26, 2016, at Pioneer Ridge Health and Rehab, Lawrence. She was born December 15, 1918, in Bates County, Missouri, to John and Jessie (Welch) Weddle.

Faye graduated in 1936 from Metz High School in Metz, Missouri. She worked for 35 years for Dillons, and for the last 25 years, was the secretary for their corporate office. Faye attended Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church.

On January 15, 1938, she married Edward Strait Jr. in Fort Scott. He died January 5, 2004.

Survivors include: son, Ronald Strait of Lawrence; grandchildren, Catherine Flynn (Paul) of Lawrence, Jason Strait (Tricia DeGraff) of Kansas City Missouri; and great-grandchildren, Andrew Flynn, Jonas Strait, and Eliza Strait.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; 11 siblings; and daughter-in-law, Martha Strait.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Roy Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
