Obituary

Francis "Luther" Barton, 78, died April 6, 2016, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born May 4, 1937, in Hutchinson, to Roy and Frances (Rayl) Barton.

He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1956 and was a lifetime resident of Hutchinson. Luther was a sheet metal mechanic and a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Local 29. He was also a member of the Hutchinson Kennel Club, raising therapy dogs and helping train them.

On Jan. 12, 1958, Luther married Marlene Schrag at the Halstead Mennonite Church, Halstead. She survives. Other survivors include: son, Jeff Barton (Cindy), Hutchinson; daughter, Angie Bonnes (Matt), Derby; grandchildren, Hannah Schletzbaum (John), Tyson Rowland, Trey Barton, Blake Bonnes, and Ben Bonnes; step -granddaughter, Tara Elliott (Ben); and a great-granddaughter, Zoey Schletzbaum. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eva Starks.

Cremation has taken place. Per Luther's wishes, no services will be held. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with the family to receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Homecare of Reno County or the Hutchinson Kennel Club, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
