Francis 'Sonny' William Severin, 86, died March 15, 2025, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson. He was born September 14, 1938, in Huntington Park, California, to Frank J. and Orlean (Norris) Severin.

Francis graduated Hutchinson High School in 1956, then attended Hutchinson Community College, earning his associates degree. He worked as a lab technician for Morton Salt, Hutchinson for many years, eventually retiring in September 2000.

He was a member of the HCC Quarterback club and HCC Alumni in which he organized the Alumni football game for 20 years.  He was an active member in the Knight of Columbus #612 council.  He helped start the Knights Pizza stand at the fair, a long-standing major fundraiser event for the council. He and Jolene were avid sports fans. They attended many HCC games, watching sports on TV and going to the sports events for their grandchildren.  After retirement they enjoyed traveling with friends and on bus tours. He always had a ball cap for every occasion due to his large collection.

On November 28, 1959, he married Jolene Ann Keller, in Spearville, Kansas. They shared over 65 years of marriage.

Francis is survived by: his wife, Jolene Severin; children, Karla Severin and Tom (Rhonda) Severin; grandchildren, Kyle Severin and Kristi Austin; and great-grandchildren, Liam and Nicole Austin.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Sheryl Severin; sister, Kathy and her husband Bill Bearden.

Parish rosary will be 10 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2025, both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Rd, Hutchinson, with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Church of the Holy Cross and Knights of Columbus Council #612, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
