Frank Robert Huffman, 73, died Sunday, January 6, 2019. He was born at home on 2 Aug 1945 in Marienthal, KS, to Robert and Elizabeth (Kohl) Huffman.
He was named for his grandpa, Frank Kohl, and his father, Robert Huffman. He attended school in Scott City, KS, and Canyon City, CO, before the family settled in Grigston, KS, where he attended school until the family moved to Nickerson, KS in early 1958. There he completed his education.
He was always happy to play with and help his younger siblings get into mischief. Frank joined the Navy in 1967 and was honorably discharged. He became an electrician and worked for Borton's, wiring grain elevators in several states, and held various jobs throughout his career. He worked in maintenance at Cessna for several years.
He loved technology and would buy old radios or equipment and repair them. He would also buy the latest TV and movie equipment and enjoyed watching comedies and Elvis Presley movies.
On his birthday in 1982, he married Letha (Lowe) Palmer. He would later adopt her two children, Charlie and Harold 'Ray'. He is survived by: his two adopted children, Charlie (Angela) Huffman of South Hutchinson, Harold Ray (Lacey) Huffman of Haven; and by his eight siblings, James (Kathy) Huffman of Hutchinson, Tom Huffman of Burrton, Mary Blachford of Alden, Jean (Mike) Ober of Cottonwood, AZ, Delores Huffman of Skiatook, OK, Vera (John) Frye of Lyons, Joe (Leslie) Huffman of Hutchinson and Barb (Lou) Winterfield of Fountain Hills, AZ.
As his parents aged, Frank moved into their home, allowing them to remain in their house until their deaths. He is also preceded in death by his ex-wife Letha, who died in 2010.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Father Rick Kotrba presiding. Burial, with Navy Honors, will be in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Rosary will be 6 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Elliott Chapel. Friends may call Thursday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
