Frank Lee Pifer, 78, of Hutchinson, died Aug. 13, 2008, at Buhler Sunshine Meadows Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Hutchinson, the son of Orville Lee and Mable Ester Spohn Pifer. A lifetime resident of Hutchinson, he retired from Cessna in 1976 and then opened Pifer Auto Salvage. He retired again in 1992.
On April 3, 1951, he married Betty Jo Benbrook in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: Danny and wife Debbie, Bobby, Jerry, Kenny, and Terry, all of Hutchinson; Sherry Storm and husband Dawyne, Lees Summit, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Kelli Pifer, Hutchinson; sisters, Joann Rayle, Bolivar, Tenn., Thelma Ziggibine, Hawthorne, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Larry Dwayne Pifer, brother, Ken Pifer, sisters, Alyce Fosythe and Donna Collins.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Darrell Bisel officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, in care of the mortuary.
