Obituary

Franklin "Frank" Harry Hill, 90, died March 19, 2010 at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson. He was born Nov. 30, 1919 in Nickerson to Odus Grant and Flora Ann Brooks Hill. He was an independent farmer and stockman and a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church.

He served in the United States Army during WWII in the European Theater of Operations, fighting in five major battles and receiving the purple heart of valor.

He married Viola L. Baldwin on July 28, 1946 at South Hutchinson Methodist Church. She died Jan. 19, 1999.

Survivors include: son: Ron Hill and wife Mary, Nickerson; two daughters: Lois Durst and husband LeRoy, Hutchinson and Jeri Hill-Harder and husband Ken, Claflin; five grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; sister: Edna Vedder, Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.

Funeral will be 10:00 a.m., Wed., March 24, 2010 at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Alan Stambaugh presiding. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be 9-9 Mon. and Tues. with the family to receive friends from 6:30-8:00 Tues. at Elliott Mortuary.
