Fred D. Yoder, 83, died July 18, 2007, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson.
He was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Yoder, the son of Daniel and Bertha Nisly Yoder. A lifetime Hutchinson area resident, he was a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 30 years, retiring in 1978.
He belonged to the First United Methodist Church, Methodist Men, and the Double Circle Sunday school class. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On Oct. 3, 1947, he married Twila E. Howard in Hutchinson. She died Aug. 27, 2002.
Survivors include: a daughter, Julee Arbuckle, Hutchinson; a brother, Lawrence "Short," South Hutchinson; a sister, Lee Stout, Newton; and two granddaughters, Morgan Ernzen and husband, Chad, Westminster, Colo., and Madison Arbuckle, Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harvey, Allen and Dan Yoder; and a sister, Edith Classen.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mark Conard presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends following the funeral service at the church. Burial will be in Sylvia Cemetery, Sylvia, with military graveside rites conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
