Freddie L. Bailey Sr. "Fred," 69, passed away on March 27, 2015, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born June 10, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Fred E. and Thelma Q. (Shuman) Bailey. Fred graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1963. He served in the United States Army until 1965. On April 1, 1977, he married Pansey "Pat" Drake in Hutchinson. She survives. He worked several different careers to take care of his family which was very important to him. Fred retired in 1995, from the Kansas Department of Transportation as a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and finding any unusual hobby, from repairing old tractors to raising angel fish. Fred loved hearing and telling off color jokes. He attended Father's House Church, which his faith was his way of living.
Survivors include: wife, Pansey "Pat" Bailey; son, Freddie Bailey Jr. and wife Chris of Springfield, Mo.; daughter, Deanna Evans and husband Bob of Bartlesville, Okla.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Fred E. Bailey and Thelma Bennett, stepfather, four brothers, and three sisters.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until service time Monday, at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to American Heart Association, or American Diabetes Association, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
