Frederick H. "Fred" Pieplow, 72, died April 3, 2009, at his home, Hutchinson.

He was born Sept. 25, 1936, in Hutchinson, the son of Ray Albert and Ruby Blanche Cooley-King Pieplow. He graduated from Nickerson Rural High School with the Class of 1954. A resident of Hutchinson, he was a retired farmer.

He belonged to Berean Baptist Church, was a member of the Board of Trustees at the church, was an avid golfer and outdoorsman, and a former member of Paradise Pastures Golf Club. He served in the U.S. Navy.

On Oct. 17, 1970, he married Ellen Marie Hedger in Hutchinson. She died Dec. 2, 2008.

Survivors include: a son, Jeffery and wife Amy, Lyons; a daughter, Wendy Barrett and husband Danny, Hutchinson; sisters, Betty Barnett and husband Bill, Auburn, Wash., Lois Phillips and husband Gene, Nickerson, RaeDene Greenham and husband Ken, Hutchinson, and Shirley Mullen and husband Robert, Hutchinson; three grandsons, Connor Barrett and Jacob and Cooper Pieplow.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Roger Neir presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
