Frederick "Fred" McLean, 81, passed away Sept. 13, 2016, at his home in The Dalles, Ore. He was born June 29, 1935, in Partridge, to Fargie and Eva Marie (Hirst) McLean.

Fred graduated from Partridge High School in 1953. He never met a stranger and enjoyed talking, as anyone who knew him would attest to. Fred served in Korea from 1959 to 1962.

He is survived by: his wife of 43 years, Mary Jane, The Dalles, Ore.; children, Marc, Kelly, John, Lynn, Jim, and Shawna; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Neomi Friesen. He was preceded in death by: his parents; first wife, Shirley; daughter, Sherri; and brothers, Fargie Kenneth and Glen.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at Partridge Cemetery, Partridge, officiated by the Reverend R. Samuel Askew. Military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Army Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Reno County Veterans' Memorial, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
