Fredrick Edward Orth, 90, died Nov. 20, 2012, at his home. He was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Eagle Rock, Calif., to Fred B. and Rachel Salley Orth.
He grew up in Liberal, Kan. and moved to Hutchinson in 1946. He graduated from Liberal High School in 1941 and went on to attend Kansas State University and Texas Teachers College. Fredrick taught at Adela Hale Business College and worked for the City of Hutchinson as a Supervisor in the utility billing department and was City Treasurer for the City of Hutchinson. Fredrick was a lifetime member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, 40Et8 and V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361. He was in the United States Army serving in World War II. Serving from 1942-1946, he went into the 86th Black Hawk division at Camphouse, Texas, volunteered for the 350th Air Student-Pilot Naval program at Canyon, Texas, later went back to 42nd Rainbow Infantry, 100th Infantry Jump school exhibition regiment and volunteered for the Air Borne Medical Supply 11th division and was discharged as a Sergeant.
Fredrick married Betty Lou Rouner on May 19, 1967, in Abilene, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include: stepchildren, Cindy Greenwood and husband Gregg of Wichita, Regie Stroh and fiancé Nena of Wichita; grandchildren, Chelsa Stroh, Sara Lorson, Alesha Stroh, all of Wichita; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Charlotte Julian and husband Jack of Denver, Colo., Faydean Fiss of Hugoton, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Orth.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Fairlawn Burial Park with Reverend Howard Keim presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday thru Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
