Janet Austin, Hutchinson, died Sept. 2, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 13, 1937, in Abbyville, the daughter of Albert M. and Susie M. Abbott Yust.

She graduated from Sylvia High School, and attended Hutchinson Junior College and Emporia State University. She was a lifetime resident of Reno County, living in Hutchinson since 1958. She worked as a secretary and legal secretary.
Janet belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She married Donald R. Austin on March 13, 1966, and on May 11, 1983. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 2005.

Survivors include: a stepson, Bradley R. Austin, Phoenix, Arizona; a stepdaughter, Victoria R. Miller, Wichita; a nephew, Alan D. Tils, Blue Springs , Mo.; five nieces; six step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Joy G. Tils and Joan M. Yust.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Bishop Gary Sessions presiding. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
