Garnett R. Fields, 96, died June 22, 2006, in Hutchinson.
She was born Jan. 11, 1910, in Talmage, the daughter of Lewis Elmer and Helen Steele Chase. She graduated from Salt City Business College. A resident of Hutchinson since 1940, she was a homemaker and worked as a secretary for Krause Plow during World War II.
She belonged to First Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women, Carey Park Women's Golf Association and was a longtime volunteer for the Hutchinson Community Concerts.
On Jan. 24, 1936, she married David Carl "Tod" Fields in Manchester. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Philip Carl, Siloam Springs, Ark.; a daughter, Marilyn Kurfiss, Independence; a brother, Robert J. Chase, Wichita; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at a later date.
