Gary L. Corkins, 72, died July 15, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born March 16, 1935, in Liberal, the son of Burnis L. and Elizabeth Hamilton Corkins. He was a longtime Hutchinson and Buhler resident. He was a retired supervisor for Republic Paper Board Co., working there for 45 years.

He belonged to the Moose Lodge, National Quarter Horse Association, Hutchinson and Sandhill Saddle clubs, and Retreads Motorcycle Association.

On May 23, 1952, he married Leila Marie Wiley in Nowada, Okla. She died Sept. 15, 1996.

Survivors include: three sons, Ricky E. and wife, Jerri Corkins, Buhler, Jimmy Joe and wife, Cynthia Corkins, and Clifford W. and wife, Pam, all of Hutchinson; a daughter, Dianna Lee and husband, Kevin Brown, Hutchinson; two brothers, Jerry and wife, Elaine Corkins, Waterford, Mich. and Larry and wife, Claudine Corkins, Inman; 11 grandchildren, Jason and wife, Kandance Brown, Stephanie and husband, Nathan Miller, Jamie and wife, Emily Brown, Jeni and husband, Andrew Bryan, Michelle Vanwey, Wesley, Jill, Chelsea, Clarissa, Ryan and Brett Corkins; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Royce Corkins; three sisters, Faye Clarke, May Oxenrider, and Marie Clarke; and a brother, Bobby Corkins.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Robert Dalke presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of the funeral home.
