Gary L. Forbes' Obituary
Gary L. Forbes, 66, died March 6, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
He was born June 21, 1942, in Great Bend, the son of Elmer and Virginia Zumalt.
He graduated from Great Bend High School and attended Bethany Nazarene College. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he was a 911 Emergency Dispatcher for the Hutchinson/Reno County area.
On June 2, 1976, he married Lorrie Forbes in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Jerree and wife Cathy, and Kim and wife Marilyn, all of Hutchinson; two daughters, Stephanie Rogers, Wichita, and Alexis Barling; his mother, Virginia Zumalt, Great Bend; a sister, Diane McAfee, Spring Hill; and 13 grandchildren, Joshua, Amy, Jeriah, Meriah, Samuel and Joseph Forbes, Katie, Jared and Logan Rogers, and Holly, Greta, Olivia and Ben Barling.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Willard D. Stafford presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the HCC Endowment Association for the Forbes Family Emergency Dispatch Program Scholarship at Hutchinson Community College, in care of the mortuary.
