Gary Lee Gleason, 78, of Hutchinson, died June 28, 2016, at Via Christi on St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born March 1, 1938, in Spearville, to Leo and Virginia (Trenkamp) Gleason.
Gary worked at McKinley Winters Livestock early in his career. He then entered into the family farm business in Hodgeman County. He was a cattle rancher and farmer and farmed up to his passing, having the best wheat crop of his life this year. He loved to play gin rummy, marbles and golf.
On Oct. 24, 1959, Gary married Julie Ann Heinz in Kinsley. She survives. Other survivors include: sons, Lee Gleason and wife Lisa of Hutchinson, Jeff Gleason of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Lorissa, Jordan, Jalynn, Christopher, Brent, and Katelyn; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Downey of Dodge City, Sandra Helfrich and husband Glen of Spearville; brother-in-law, Larry Heinz and wife Ann of McPherson; sister-in-law, Mary Herrmann and husband Ray of Prosper, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Terry Tom Gleason; sister, Shirley Quint; and brother, Terry Gleason.
Parish rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016, with Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016, all at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Kinsley, with Father John Strasser presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, rural Hodgeman County.
