Gary Calvin Johanning, 69, of Nickerson, died May 9, 2023, at his home. He was born November 3, 1953, in Hutchinson, to Victor and Marceline (McAllister) Johanning.

Gary graduated from Nickerson High School. He worked at Consolidated Manufacturing and Reno County Public Works before retirement. Gary enjoyed farming, fishing, gardening, and most importantly, spending time with his family.

On June 1, 2018, he married Merlu Grace Relles. She survives.

Also surviving are: his son, Chad Johanning (Cori); grandson, Evan Johanning (Amanda); siblings, Jerry Johanning (Andrea), Teri Johanning; nephews, JJ Johanning, Austin Johanning, Mark Beshears; niece, Madison Johanning; and many other extended family members.

Gary was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Curtis; nephew, Dustin Beshears.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E 5 ^th Ave., Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1-8 p.m., with family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
