Gary D. Schriner, 80, of Hutchinson, died September 4, 2021, at Pleasant Hills. He was born March 5, 1941, to Virgil and Edith (Walker) Schriner.

Gary worked for Cessna – Eaton for 45 years, mostly as the plant chairman. He was active in Boy Scouts and was a Big Brother for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Reno County. Gary was also a co-founder of Food Bank of Reno County.

On June 1, 1962, he married Joyce Smith, in Salina. They shared 59 years together.

Gary is survived by: wife, Joyce Schriner; son, Shannon Schriner; daughter, Debra Akins; five grandchildren, Schuyler Johnson, Topanga Schriner, Savannah Schriner, Elizabeth Akins, and Genevieve Akins.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Shane Schriner; brothers, Paul and Mike Smith; and sister, Beth VanRiper.

Private burial will take place in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, Ks.
