Gary K. Zimmerman, 74, died Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Hospice House, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 30, 1939, in Hutchinson, to Ray and Ruth (Hillman) Zimmerman.

Gary grew up on a farm in Castleton. He graduated from Haven High School in 1957, and attended Hutchinson Community College. On Nov. 16, 1963, he married Karen McEntarfer. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this past November. Gary worked at Krause Plow, Borton, Inc. and retired from Cessna/Eaton after 30+ years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Highlands golf course for 35 years. He enjoyed reading and spending time with family at his farm in Castleton. Survivors include: wife, Karen Zimmerman of Hutchinson; son, Brian (Cami) Zimmerman of Overland Park; daughter, Michele (Mark) Flory of Olathe; grandchildren, Katie, Tommy, Grace, Jason and Ayden; brother, Dean Zimmerman of Wichita; several nephews and a niece.

At Gary's request there will be no services. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Homecare of Reno County or Reins of Hope, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
