Marlyn "Gene" Allen, 90, died Nov. 4, 2014, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born April 15, 1924, to Benjamin and Ethel (Renner) Allen.
He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1943. After graduation, Gene went into the U.S. Army, serving during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star and Bronze Service Arrowhead. After returning from the Army, he went to the University of Kansas and graduated in 1950. Gene retired from Cessna as an employment manager. He was a member of New Life Christian Church and the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68.
On Feb. 16, 1962, Gene married Janice Elaine Hogan in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: son, Michael Allen and wife Kathy of Hutchinson; daughter, Shanda Dame of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Emily Allen, Paul Allen, Morgan Dame, Kelsey Dame and Garrett Dame, all of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Stacy Allen; granddaughter, Shelby Dame; son-in-law, Kelly Dame; brother, Ted Allen; and sister, Norma Wiik.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor John Frey presiding. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
