Gene Capps, 60, died Dec. 16, 2010. He was born June 22, 1950, in Hutchinson, the son of Hadley and Rose Capp

He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1969. He was a construction superintendent by trade with Capps and Sons Construction, including working for HIEB, Cottonwood Hills Golf Course, and trustee for Reno Township. On Oct. 31, 1970, he married Carol Stinbrink. He is survived by his wife of 40 years. Other survivors include: three daughters, Kristy and husband Rob Osborn, Jaime and husband Bill Kendall, and Abbie Kracman; six grandchildren, Lea, Cody, Riley, Tayla, Miranda and Aiden; three siblings, Mary and husband Randy Buechler, Marge VanHoose, and Dale Capps and wife Marsha; and best friend, Diego. Gene fought a courageous battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Gary and Gale Capps. Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and until service Saturday. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
