Gene D. Parker, 72, died May 12, 2015, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born September 30, 1942, in Billings, Montana, to Jack and Josephine (Reather) Parker.
In 1959, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country. Gene was a scale technician for Salina Scales for 30 years before his retirement in 2006. He especially enjoyed fishing in his free time, taking his grandsons along any chance he got. Gene loved any time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He married Kathy Steinert on March 12, 1960, in Terry, Montana. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Valerie Algrim, Hutchinson; sons, Ed Parker and wife Jessie, Miles City, Montana, and Curt Parker and wife Sarah, Nash, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tyler Algrim and wife Kim, Chase Algrim and wife Jessica, Brody Parker, Sidney Parker, Tabatha Parker, and Joshua Parker; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Gunnar Algrim; brothers, Jack Parker, Menifee, CA, Jim Parker, Miles City, Montana, Bill Parker, Forsyth, Montana, Duane Parker, Missoula, Montana; sister, Sandra Anderson, Kinsey, Montana; and a fishing buddy and brother-in-law, Ed Harris; and his 94 year old mother-in -law, Grace Peterson, Bellingham, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Amy Claassen presiding. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
