Geneva M. Hayes, 80, died Dec. 22, 2006, at her home, Hutchinson.
She was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Haven, the daughter of Dr. B.S. and Nellie J. Givens Anspach. She graduated in 1944 from Haven High School and in 1948 from Northwestern University. A Hutchinson resident since 1953, moving from Norman and Purcell, Okla., she was a music and flute teacher, both privately and with Hutchinson Community College and Sterling College.
She belonged to Park Place Christian Church, Hutchinson Music Club, Hutchinson Symphony Board, Hutchinson Symphony as principal flute since its beginning, the Hutchinson Municipal Band, and the Kansas and National Music Federations, in which she held various officer positions.
On Aug. 22, 1948, she married James H. Hayes in Haven. He died Jan. 2, 1980.
Survivors include: three sons and their wives, Steven and Debbie, Spotsylvania, Va., Robert and Marlana, Portland, Ore., and Scott and Carol, Hutchinson; and three grandchildren, Dyllan and Danielle Hayes, and Jun Hayes.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Kim Biery presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Darlow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Hutchinson Music Club Scholarship, in care of the funeral home.
