Obituary

George A. Foster, Jr., 84, of Hutchinson, died Dec. 3, 2011, at Hospice House. He was born Dec. 27, 1926, in Hutchinson, the son of George, Sr. and Clara A. Zeigler Foster. George graduated from Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community Junior College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served in World War II. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church, a member of the Optimist Club, and was a former member of Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124, A.F. and A.M. and Cyrus Grotto Club. George was the 95th Eagle Scout when he was a member of Boy Scout Troop #1. He had also worked as an Assistant Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #318. George also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. George was a retired printer at Krause Corporation. Prior to working there, he owned and operated Foster's Multilith, Inc. in Hutchinson.

He married Sally Ann Smith in Hutchinson on July 25, 1954. Sally survives. Other survivors include: three sons, Frank Foster and wife, Lorna, Hutchinson, Dan Foster and wife Penny, Stephenville, Texas, and Steve Foster and wife Helen, Haven; a daughter, Kathy Allen and husband Mike, Hutchinson; a sister, Rosamary Moore Fuson, Hutchinson; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Foster; and a nephew, Dennis Moore, in 2011.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Wayne Pittman presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family greeting friends on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m., all at Elliott Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Reno Co.- Hospice House, or the American Cancer Society, sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas 67501.
