George Lee Fowler, 86, died May 12, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Guthrie, Okla., to Lawrence Charlie "Hap" and Prudy Matilda Wileman Fowler.
He was a supervisor for J.E. Carlson Pipeline and Plant Construction, retiring in July 1982 after 30 years.
He belonged to Church of God, Cow Creek Old Time Fiddlers and Pickers Association. He was an avid outdoorsman, carpenter, master Southern engineer, had a great sense of humor, and loved and cherished his family. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 175th Ordinance.
On March 30, 1945, he married Dolly Ruth Clymer in Winfield. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Steven Allen and wife Lou, Hutchinson; two daughters, Carol Sue Gisick and husband Tom, Hutchinson, and Kathy J. McGillivray and husband Guy, Hutchinson; a sister, Geneva Clift, Longview, Texas; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Edward Fowler; and a sister, Ruby Lucille Campbell.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Smith Memorial Chapel, Guthrie, Okla. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, Okla. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, Okla. Burial will be in Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie, Okla., with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Sill Honor Guard.
Memorials may be sent to the Wounded Warriors Project, American Diabetes Association, or the American Heart Association, all in care of the mortuary.
