George D. James, Jr., 83, died Nov. 14, 2007, at Hospice House.
He was born Dec. 9, 1923, at Florence, the son of George D. and Myrtle Morris James Sr. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1941. A resident of Hutchinson since 1926, he was a foreman at the former Hutchinson Foundry and Steel, was a project engineer at Wilson Machine Company, and retired as a draftsman from Krause Plow Co.
He belonged to the First United Methodist Church, Salt Minor Barbershop, Hutchinson Horseless Carriage Club, and American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
On April 6, 1952, he married Catherine A. "Katie" Harris in Hutchinson. She survives.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Leo James, and a sister, Betty Mulligan.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mark Conard presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, with military graveside rites conducted by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
