George M. Nye, 91, died Dec. 22, 2005, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Oct. 8, 1914, in Hutchinson, the son of George M. and Cordelia W. Kershner Nye. He had been employed by Krause Plow Corp. until retiring after 30 years.
He belonged to South Hutchinson Mennonite Church.
He married Mildred Winfree. She died in August 1975. On Feb. 27, 1976, he married Millicent "Millie" DeGarmo at Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: four sons, Jerry, Buhler, Larry, Pocahontas, Iowa, Michael, Wichita, and Gilbert, Derby; a stepson, Gregg DeGarmo, Hutchinson; three stepdaughters, Ann House, Dana Goble and Lisa Simon, all of Lawrence; a brother, Oliver, South Hutchinson; a sister, Cora Evans, Wichita; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, George L. Nye; and a sister Emma.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Lonestar Cemetery, rural Pretty Prairie, with Pastor Howard Wagler presiding. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at South Hutchinson Mennonite Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
