Obituary

George Everett Roberts, 84, died Thursday, April 6, 2017. He was born April 27, 1932, in Hutchinson, the son of Everett George and Lila Rose (Tracy) Roberts.

George was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and attended Hutchinson Community College. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He belonged to the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68.

George was a member of Carey Salt Retirees Breakfast Club and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 982. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson.

George worked for Carey Salt Co., Hutchinson, for over 40 years, retiring as maintenance superintendent in 1995. He was also a courtesy driver for the Laird Noller dealership. His favorite past-times included golf, bowling and playing poker.

On Dec. 12, 1955, he married Lela Daisy Brown in Lyons. She died February 20, 2004. He is survived by: his children, Tracy D. Roberts and Lisa Lundemo-Roberts, both of Hutchinson, Alan and wife Linda of Rapid City, S.D.; sisters, Rose Marie Westfall of Virginia Beach, Va. and Irene Kleiber and husband Mal of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents.

His casket will remain closed. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Church of the Nazarene (Laundry of Love Program), in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
