Obituary

George Harold "Skip" McDonald, 66, died May 16, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.

He was born July 9, 1943, in Seattle, Wash., to Harold Glenn and Lillian Blanche Crossen McDonald.

He attended Spokane, Wash., schools and Spokane Community College. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at mines across the U.S. and was a long-haul trucker, spending time with J. Bell Trucking, Interstate Trucking and as an independent. He was a Boy Scout leader while his children were in the scouting program, and a member of the Operating Engineers Union. After moving to Hutchinson, he and his wife enjoyed hobbies, friendship and relaxation. His favorite activity was events with the local Antique Tractor Club. He served six years in the US Coast Guard during Vietnam. He served many years as an officer in the Civil Air Patrol, flying missions in Washington, Idaho and Montana.
On Feb. 17, 1979, he was united in marriage to Christine Alene Brown in Kennewick, Wash. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, George Harold McDonald, Jr., Sitka, Ala.; daughters, Tina Lynn Caldwell and husband Brian, Ford, Wash., Heidi Lorraine Siefert and husband Shannon, Dighton; stepchildren, Wendy Laree Brown, Eugene, Ore., Gerald Lehi Brown, Madrid, Spain, Willis Henry John Wilson, Spokane, Wash.; a brother, Robert Birney and wife Carolyn, Glenn Allen, Va.; sisters, Arlene Conley, Kennewick, Wash., Glenda Maddox and husband, James, Pasco, Wash., Carolyn Bast and husband Terrence, Pahrump, Nev.; adopted brother, William Hill and wife Carla, Spokane, Wash.; grandchildren, Haley, Kaycee and Liam Caldwell, Ford, Wash., Cheyenne Wilson, Spokane, Wash., Maegan and Trystan Siefert, Dighton; adopted grandson, Erik Kersenbrock, Hutchinson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, little brother, William McDonald, a younger sister, Viola Clark; and a brother-in-law, Edward Conley.

At Skip's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Cremation has taken place.
