Obituary

George Franklin Trimmer III, 63, of Great Bend died Feb. 19 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Jan. 22, 1948, in Council Bluffs, Ia. he was the son of George and Edna Law Trimmer. He served in the Navy from November 1965 to February 1968 with honorable discharge. He was stationed on the recovery ship, the Gemini Ten, and picked up the space capsule in July of 1966. After serving in the Navy, he worked for the United States Post Office when he met and married Jane Brown on Oct. 4, 1971. To this union were born two children; Kimberly Dawn and George Franklin (Frank) Trimmer IV. He worked for Ike Beckman at the Mobile Station before he joined Firestone and ran the service truck where he fixed all types of tires. He eventually joined Goodyear in Great Bend and worked there until his death

He is survived by daughter Kim Craig and husband Shawn of Smith Center; son Frank Trimmer and wife Regina of Great Bend; three grandchildren, Justice, Kimberly, and Austin Trimmer; a brother John Trimmer of Dundee; a sister Freda Brown of Mankato; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

A graveside service will held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Smith Center with military honors rendered by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. To leave a personal message for George's family visit www.elliottmortuary.com.
