Obituary

George Zuk, 83, died March 20, 2010, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson. He was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., to John and Mary Panchuk Zuk. He served in the Canadian Air Force during World War II.

A resident of Hutchinson since 1972, he was a supervisor for Southwestern Bell. He retired in 1991 after 39 years of service. He was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Knights of Columbus Council No. 612 and Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a member of American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68 for 51 years. He enjoyed playing pool at Elmdale Senior Center and belonged to a Couples Bridge Club.

He married Mary Alice Reynolds on June 21, 1952, in Hugoton. She survives. Other survivors include: three sons, Eric, Bonner Springs, Dale, Newark, N.J ., and David, Oklahoma City; daughter, Teresa Coulter Otten, Olathe; 11 grandchildren, Aaron and Morgan Coulter, Anne Marie Garde, Amy, Allison, Ben, Janet, Daniel, Sarah and John Zuk and Mary Ann Smith; six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Mitchell and Addison Rose Garde, Aaron and Ashley Smith, and Alex Coulter. He was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.

Rosary will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, with Mass to follow at 10 a.m. at Church of the Holy Cross, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 9 Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
