Obituary

Georgia Juanita Crandall, 89, died Jan. 7, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. She was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Kingman, to Homer R. and Bertha Shea Moore. She graduated from Kingman High School in 1938.

While in Hutchinson she was a secretary for the McNaughten Investment Company and worked for the Kansas SRS Hutchinson Office, retiring in 2000.

She belonged to the First Christian Church and taught Sunday school. She volunteered for Youth Friends, taught ceramic and china painting and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and as a person of great strength and compassion to so many that she has touched.

On Dec. 7, 1939, she married Fred Nathan Crandall. He preceded her in death. They lived on a farm near Pretty Prairie, farming, raising bloodhounds and had an antique and ceramic shop.

Survivors include: a daughter, Martha Klassen, Wichita; daughter-in-law, Sandra Crandall, Easley, S.C.; a brother, Duane Moore, Forth Worth, Texas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, James Leonard and Robert Fred Crandall, three brothers, a sister and two grandchildren.

At her request her body was donated to the University of Kansas School of Medicine. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Friday Jan. 15, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Katrina Palan and Randy Lind presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today through Friday at Elliott Mortuary. A private family graveside will be held at a later date in Sego Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Midwest Transplant Network or the National Kidney Foundation, both in care of the mortuary.
