Obituary

Gerald E. Culver, 79, died Oct. 13, 2007, at William Newton Hospital, Winfield.

He was born May 22, 1928, in Lamont, the son of Lesslie C. and Clara Mae Burkey Culver. He was a 1936 graduate of Claflin High School. He was a resident of Winfield. He worked as a bank teller with Hutchinson National Bank for over 45 years, retiring in 1990.

He served as an army corporal veteran in the Korean conflict. He belonged to First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. He was a member of the Winfield Masonic Lodge No. 110, the Hutchinson Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 AF&AM, a charter member of High 12 American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68, and VFW Bob Campbell Post No. 1361.

Survivors include: two brothers, Kenneth, Lawrence, Leonard and wife, Doris, Loveland, Colo.; a nephew; three nieces; and his best friend, Robert Shriner, Andover.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel with the Rev. Mark Conard presiding. Masonic graveside rites by Hutchinson Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 AF&AM, Army military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church or Hutchinson Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 A.F.& A.M., in care of the mortuary.
