Gerald Lee Doughty, 77, died Oct. 16, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson. He was born Aug. 29, 1936, in Rural Rice County, Kan., to Henry Beryl and Dorothy Elizabeth (Beil) Doughty.

He graduated from McPherson High School in 1954 and from McPherson College in 1958. He retired from the Data Center as a computer programmer in 1997.

On Dec. 12, 1965, he married Janet Joy Norton in Osborne, Kan. She died Sept. 25, 2013.

He is survived by daughter, Brenda Marshall and husband Jim of Hutchinson; son, Michael Doughty of Hutchinson; granddaughter, Nishelle Marshall of Wichita, Kan.; grandson, Curtis Marshall of Hutchinson; and a sister, Joyce Quinlan of Santa Clara, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sister, Lois Hoelscher; and brother, Leonard Doughty.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Ron Kyker presiding. Military honors will be conducted by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
