Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad, and grandfather, Gary Vincent, 81, who left us on July 17, 2023. He was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and a dear friend to many. His loss leaves a void in our lives that can never be filled.

Born in Hutchinson on October 21, 1941, Gary was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering strength. His warm smile and infectious laughter brought joy to those around him. He had a way of making everyone feel valued and loved, and his presence lit up any room he entered.

On August 12, 1963, Gary married Irene Wellke, in Great Bend, KS. They shared almost 60 years of marriage. Gary was a dedicated family man who treasured his role as a husband and father above all else. He was a pillar of support and a constant source of love and guidance. His unwavering commitment to his family was evident in every aspect of his life. Whether it was attending school events, cheering from the sidelines, or offering a listening ear, he was always there for us.

Gary retired from Eaton Hydraulics after 45 years. He approached his work with passion and a commitment to excellence, leaving a lasting impact on all those he encountered.

Gary enjoyed fishing with his friend Dick and many other friends, playing poker, and spending as much time as possible with his family. Whether it was spending time in nature, pursuing his favorite hobbies, or simply enjoying the company of loved ones, he found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. His zest for life was contagious, and he inspired those around him to embrace every moment. Gary was an organ and tissue donor. Staying true to his caring personality, Gary gave in death as he gave in life. He was also a longtime blood donor. He donated blood over 193 times and was known to say he wanted to build a supply in case his loved ones were ever in need.

Gary leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Irene; children Debi Currie of Hutchinson, Cindy Kendall of Hutchinson, Daryl Brunsell (Sandra) of Lindsborg, Gary Dean Vincent of Rogers, Arkansas, Bill Vincent (Angie) of Wichita, Judith Diggs (Scott Goin) of Hutchinson, and Jessica Gall (Dustin) of Hays; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and beloved sister, LaVona Quinn of Louviers, CO. He also leaves behind many relatives, friends, and colleagues who were fortunate enough to have known him.

During this difficult time, we find solace in the memories we shared with Gary. We remember his laughter, his wisdom, and the love he showered upon us. Though he may no longer be physically present, his spirit will forever live on in our hearts.

A visitation will be held at Elliott Mortuary on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., where friends and loved ones can pay their respects to Gary. Following the visitation, there will be a graveside service at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, at 11:30 a.m., where Gary will be laid to rest. Following the graveside service, there will be a celebration of Gary's life held at the Salvation Army Church at 12:30 p.m.  We invite all those whose lives were touched by him to join us in honoring his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Salvation Army Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St., Hutchinson, KS 67501, as Gary was a longtime member.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all those who have offered their condolences, support, and love during this difficult time. Your kindness and presence have provided us with strength and comfort. May Gary's soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to us all.

With love and remembrance,
