ABBYVILLE - Gerald Thomas "Jerry" Zelfer, 68, died March 31, 2009, at his home.
He was born Dec. 12, 1940, in Oneida, the son of Francis Leroy and Pauline Katherine Ronnebaum Zelfer.
He attended St. Teresa's Schools and was a 1962 graduate of Kansas University. He was a broker and farmer. He was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran as a Lt. Commander.
Survivors include: son, Bradley Zelfer and wife Darla, Burns Flat, Okla.; brother, Robert Zelfer, Cape Fair, Mo.; sisters, Joann Weldon, Wichita, Connie Lierz, Galena, Mo., Bonnie Brinker, Seneca, Mo.; step-mother, Betty Zelfer, Hutchinson, grandsons, Benjamin and Troy Zelfer. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Father Jim Weldon presiding. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the mortuary.
