Gerald L. Post, 76, of Hutchinson, KS, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS.
He was born June 5, 1949, in Russell, KS, to Dale and Della (Sanders) Post. Gerald grew up in Russell with his parents, brother and sister. He graduated from Russell High School in 1969.
On April 22, 1972, he married Marilyn Gerritzen, in Claflin, KS. She preceded him in death.
Gerald was a certified welder and worked at Superior Boiler Works for 26 years. He then worked in the maintenance department at Pal-Co until his retirement in 2019.
Gerald enjoyed visiting with his coffee group, going to auctions and relaxing with his dog, Sandy.
He is survived by his brother, Kenneth Post of Enid, OK; brother-in-law, Verlin Hammerschmidt of Victoria, KS; and sister-in-law, Janet Weseloh of Sylvan Grove, KS; nieces, Lisa Norris, Veronica Davis, Valarie (Roger) Jones; nephews, Michael (Teresa) Hammerschmidt, Adam (Kalesha) Weseloh and Jared (Colleen) Weseloh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Della Post; sister, Glenda Hammerschmidt; sisters-in-law, Ruth Post, Sharlene Reichard, Joanne Hamm and Carol Davis; brothers-in-law, Art Reichard, Leon Hamm, Floyd Davis and Donald Weseloh.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary. With a luncheon to follow at Hilton Garden Inn (Medora Room), 1715 N. Waldron, Hutchinson. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Pleasant View Cemetery, Claflin, KS. Friends may sign his book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Tuesday and until the day of the service. Cremation has taken place.
