Obituary

Gerald Edward Sheahan, 75, died Feb. 16, 2008, at the emergency room at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born Nov. 15, 1932, in Kingman, the son of William Lawrence and Mabel Rowley Sheahan. He graduated from Zenda High School in 1950. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, he was a retired carpenter.

He belonged to Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Hutchinson Carpenters Local, and Knights of Columbus Council No. 612. He served in the U.S. Navy.

On Sept. 4, 1954, he married Phyllis May Barton in Willowdale. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Scott, Herrington, and Kelley, Wichita; three daughters, Colleen Sheahan, Kerry Holden and Tracey Gould, all of Hutchinson; two brothers, James, Hutchinson, and Dennis, Austin, Texas; three sisters, Rita Ann Reida, Cheney, Patricia Roberts, Conroe, Texas, and Judy Hageman, Willowdale; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence; and two sisters, Rose Mary Kerschen and Elaine Wells.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Father Stuart M. Smeltzer presiding. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Lonestar Cemetery, Pretty Prairie, with military graveside rites conducted by the Wichita Naval Honor Guard.
