Geraldine Joyce Durbin, 81, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born in Ellinwood, Kan., Oct. 8, 1931, the daughter of Clyde O. and Josephine Thorp Drake.
She was a 1951 graduate of Hutchinson High School, a member of First Church of God and had been a custodian for Hutchinson Public Schools. Survivors include: a daughter, Jodi Miller of Hutchinson; sister, Helen Minor of Sterling; twin brother, Gerald Drake (Joan) of Hutchinson; three granddaughters, Cyndi Burr (Scott) of Hutchinson, Anna Owen (Byron) of Sterling, Vicky Hester (Jason) of Hutchinson; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jim; a grandson, Billy Durbin; two brothers, Clyde S. and James Drake; three sisters, Virginia Palermo, Mary Perry and Leona Janzen.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Elliott Chapel with Chaplain Bob Phipps officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice House, Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
