Geraldine Lurie "Gerry" Wise, 89, died April 20, 2013, at Hospice House. She was born April 21, 1923, in Benton County, Mo., to Albert Aai and Emma Lovyna (Patterson) Gemes.

She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1940 and S.W. Baptist College in Bolivar, Mo. She taught elementary school for 10 years and was a lifelong Sunday school teacher and American Cancer volunteer.

On Nov. 26, 1950, she married Alvin Eugene Wise in Fristoe, Mo. He died in 2008.

She is survived by: children, Albert Ted Wise of Hutchinson, Rodney Eugene Wise of Abbyville, Alvina Lurie Jackle and husband John of Rose Hill, Venita Ann Campagna of Cathedral City, Calif.; brother, Vernon Gemes and wife Barbara of Edwards, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Jean Rita Everts of Knob Noster, Mo., "Teddie" Holley and husband Allen, Eunice Boyd, both of Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren, Kelly Ann (Bass) Davenport, Tawnia Kay Wise, Albert Eugene "Gene" Aaron, Codey Albert Wise, Steven Derek Dunham, Eric Lee Dunham; great-grandchildren, Erin, Meghan, Destiny, Sierra, Alyssa, Carmyn, and Cole; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; Alvin Wise; brothers, Karl and J.C. Gemes; sister, Nadine Brown; and nephew, Jerry Gemes.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at The Corner Stone Baptist Church, 1028 E. 16th, with Pastor Larry Wedel officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Bethel Cemetery in Edwards, Mo. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Mo.
