Geraldine W. "Geri" Shafer, 91, of Hutchinson, passed away March 15, 2024, at her home. She was born October 17, 1932, in Hutchinson, to Roy and Edith (Lentz) Walker.

Geri worked in Hutchinson in the food and drink industry for 65 years. She worked in food service at Hutchinson Hospital for 37 years as well as Elks Lodge for 22 years as a bar tender. Geri also loved to bake and for a time she would enter her baked goods in the fair. Later in life she enjoyed working on her puzzles and watching TV. Geri was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

She is survived by: her children, Anita Smith (Howard), Hutchinson, Dale Shafer, Hutchinson, Polly Holler (Brad), McPherson, Jill Shafer, Hutchinson, Craig Shafer (Lindsey Derr), Hutchinson; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Geri was preceded in death by: grandparents; parents; brother, Walter Walker; and son, Glenn Shafer.

Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Hester Chapel. Friends may sign the book from 9 am to 5 pm Wednesday through Friday, at Elliott Mortuary.
