Gertrude Herriman, 103, died Dec. 31, 2012, at Hester Care at Wesley Towers.
She was born July 10, 1909, in Alden, Kan., to LeRoy and Mary Stryker Vincent.
She was a telephone operator and homemaker. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1928. She attended South Hutchinson Christian Church, EHU of Reno County Extension office, and the ladies sewing group at the church making garments for the men in the military.
On April 21, 1935, she married Dorris Herriman in Sterling, Kan. He died Jan. 30, 1988.
Other survivors include: son, Vincent Herriman and wife Margaret of Hutchinson, Kan.; daughter, Betty Steffen and husband Frank of Burrton, Kan.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronnie Herriman; granddaughter, Brenda Herriman; a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Arnold presiding. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, Kan. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to service time at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorial contributions may be made to South Hutchinson Christian Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
